What is WorkReady Philadelphia?

WorkReady Philadelphia is the City’s system to prepare 14 to 21 year old youth to become a highly-skilled 21st century workforce for the City and region.

WorkReady coordinates the City’s existing youth employment programs, and also seeks to expand the number of high-quality experiences available for Philadelphia young people.

WorkReady Philadelphia is building the infrastructure that will enable us to prepare ALL of our young people for active and productive citizenship.

WorkReady is not an event or a program … it is a dynamic and ongoing process to build a ready and able workforce for our City, the nation and the world.

Who is involved in WorkReady Philadelphia?

The Youth Council of the Philadelphia Workforce Investment Board developed the WorkReady campaign to coordinate new and existing efforts and to cultivate additional resources for city-wide success.

The Philadelphia Youth Network administers WorkReady Philadelphia on behalf of the Youth Council, in collaboration with the employer recruitment partners.

Hundreds of employers, youth-serving organizations, public agencies, foundations and individuals participate in and support WorkReady through a variety of programs

Programs

WorkReady Philadelphia’s family of programs provides user-friendly opportunities for employers to:

	offer internships
	host worksite visits (e.g. Shadowing Day)
	mentor at the workplace (e.g. Business Mentoring Youth)
	meet your current workforce needs (by hiring youth for part-time or full-time jobs)
	recruit your future workforce (e.g. industry-pipeline programs)
	present at workshops (e.g. career awareness and job-readiness programs at schools, youth centers, industry fairs)
	support education reform (through curriculum and policy development)
	provide teacher externships (exposing them to industry trends and expectations e.g. through      Educator in the Workplace)
	make a financial contribution (e.g. Youth Wage Fund)
